MAGICAL RUNES

We delved into the polytheistic magic of the gods of the northern kingdoms by imagining a collection of protective grigris to adorn our urban warriors. Glazed ceramic medals attached to a long chain are engraved with painted designs called Runes. The Runes are an alphabet that was used by the Scandinavian, Germanic and Anglo-Saxon peoples. The true meaning of the word Rune remains mysterious, but it is generally agreed that the etymology of the word in the Germanic or Celtic language means "that which comes from secret knowledge, magic, the initiated". To speak of the alphabet is a big word because the Viking language was primarily oral. 

The Vikings used the Runes by attributing divinatory powers to them. Depending on the individual meanings of each Rune (sign) it was possible to predict the future, either through oracles or simply through initiates. The future was revealed by reading these small engraved objects that were thrown like jacks. For the creation of this collection we have chosen six runes signifying prosperity (wealth), courage, health, love, luck and protection. They can be worn in turn, depending on what we wish to attract to our innermost being, for example, wishing for love or luck to manifest itself in our lives.

These jewels in their deepest meaning are protective talismans that help us to think, that help us to believe. To believe that we are protected is to attract this protection to us and finally to become protected... To believe in love is to invite it into our lives by radiating love and kindness around us..

Wearing the runes also means not forgetting that courage is an eternal daily journey, that health is our most precious possession. The runes thus invite us to take better care of ourselves and those we love.
